  • Counting and repetition that engage early readers naturally

  • Encourages empathy, curiosity, and environmental awareness

  • A playful, read-aloud rhythm families enjoy again and again

  • "Destined to become a cherished read-aloud for little hatchlings and their grown-ups."

“This uncomplicated and clearly written read-aloud story manages to be educational without feeling didactic. Numbers up to 10 are introduced and reinforced, the concept of oviparous animals is explained, and an illustrated snail appears on most pages to provide an extra visual detail that young readers will enjoy spotting. This picture book succeeds because of its simplicity, clarity, and charm. Kids will delight in the surprise of unexpected animals hatching from the eggs; adults will appreciate the fun learning moments…” - Kirkus Reviews

  • "A wonderful STEAM-aligned touch"

“…The beautiful illustrations immediately draw young readers in, immersing them in vibrant natural settings filled with thoughtfully depicted animals and habitats. Beyond the visuals, the story serves as a fun and engaging introduction to counting as well as different kinds of nature and wildlife, making it both educational and entertaining.

The gentle cliffhangers woven throughout the story keep children eagerly turning the pages, while the delightful “secret snail” hidden on each page adds an interactive element that encourages observation and attention to detail — a wonderful STEAM-aligned touch…”

  • "A stage for creative movement"

“As a creator who looks for movement possibilities in every story, Mama Duck’s Lost Duckling is a charming hit. This is a beautiful example of how a picture book can become a stage for creative movement…

The cadence is perfect for a read-aloud and naturally invites children to wander and quack alongside the characters. The story strikes that delicate balance of being just the right amount of scary. It builds enough tension to keep little hearts racing as the duckling searches but resolves with a comforting warmth and eventual reunion. It’s a perfect tool for teachers and parents to explore emotions and physical expression through a gentle, high-stakes adventure…”

-Teacher Terrel, Once Upon a Dance

  • “Few things make me happier than discovering a book my high-spirited toddler wants to read over and over… The story’s rhythm, charm, and subtle lessons in empathy and critical thinking are absolutely wonderful...”
